30 Something Skincare Routine

When I turned 30 I swore I would start taking care of my face and skin. I knew it was just a matter of time before fine lines and wrinkles started wreaking havoc on my once wrinkle free face. I mean I definitely recognize each wrinkle as a badge of honor and realize that growing old isn’t guaranteed. I remember we had a cross stitched little plaque in our kitchen when I was living at home. I always thought I wanted a face full of wrinkles to indicate a life full of smiles and sunshine. Now that I turn 37 this year, I’ve actually committed to taking care of my skin. I started pretty basic. I didn’t want a lot of steps or products because I know that too many steps will overwhelm me and prevent me from doing even the basics. Today on the blog, I’m outlining my pretty basic but pretty effective 30 Something skincare routine.

no makeup, skincare routine
  1. The first MUST have skincare item is a cleanser. I’ve been pretty loyal to glossier for a while now. (Referral link to Glossier gets you 10% off your order!) Milk Jelly Cleanser is awesome. It’s all the good things, hypoallergenic, cruelty free, vegan, but above all it’s gentle on my sometimes sensitive face, removes every trace of makeup, and leaves my skin feeling bright and clean.
  2. I have tried a lot of toners. This Garnier Micellar water is my favorite. I use textured cotton rounds to apply and do a gentle exfoliation. It’s not scented and does a really good job of removing any impurities. I absolutely love that I can get it in my subscribe & save.
  3. Next up is a moisturizer. I was gifted by Influester, the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Vitamin C Serum and I am obsessed. It’s definitely on the pricier side but if you can swing it the brightening is so powerful. Another moisturizer that I use at night and is a bit more affordable is the Glossier Priming Moisturizer. Lightweight, not greasy. Such a great formula.
  4. One of the most important parts of my skincare routine is a daily SPF. Living in Florida, and being BRCA1 + means I’m at a higher risk for skin cancer anyway. I always use SPF and Glossier Invisible Shield is AMAZING. It’s lightweight and goes under makeup like a dream. Isn’t greasy, or too creamy. It’s seriously the perfect formula.

These products are my personal MVPs for bright and healthy skin. My breakouts have decreased significantly since I have started consistently taking care of my face. Even my hormonal breakouts have lessened. When I do have a breakout or zit that I can feel forming under the skin, these zit patches come in clutch! So there you have it, my 30 something skincare routine. Do you have a product that you just swear by? Leave me a comment.
